Registration and Convention Notes
Check our website (www.kafs.net) or Facebook (Kentucky County Fairs)
for convention programs and updates.
—The deadline to pay fees and avoid penalties for next year’s beauty pageants is now December
31 of this year. Your 2024 pageant fee must be paid in order to participate in the January
pageant. And, you must pay your annual dues in order to be a “member in good standing.”
—Last year, we raised more than $10,000 to be used for youth scholarships for our younger county
fair volunteers. Please help us this year by bringing items valued at $100 or more to the
Thursday auction. (We do ask, however, that if liquor is included in an auction basket, that the
basket also have other items.) We also have to prohibit any alcoholic beverages that can’t be
legally sold in Kentucky.
—The association is again using professional security personnel this year to assure all visitors
to the convention have the proper credentials. Everyone attending the reception, seminars,
trade show, Showcase of Talent and other programs will be required to have current badges.
Advance registration will save you 33%, so it makes sense to take advantage of it.
—Miranda Schack Chaplin is again the publisher of the Green Book for the horse shows. All
information, however, will be sent to the KAFHS office (Somerset) by February 15. All horse
show info (membership, class sheets, Green Book info and results) will be sent to the same
address. Don’t miss the deadline. Your inclusion is at no additional cost and is one of the best
means of promotion you’ll find. It is strongly advised that the information be sent digitally. Doing
so removes all chance of errors on our part and streamlines the editing process.
—In order to advertise that your horse show participates in the Association’s High Point
Awards Program and that you are a member of our Association, the appropriate fee must be
paid. If you have more than one show, fees must be paid for the additional show. (A member
can have up to two shows annually, but no more.) Individual and Family members attend our
member shows in order to receive points and to qualify for county fair classes at the World’s
Championship Horse Show at the State Fair. At the conclusion of your show, you must forward
a copy of the show program and the class sheet results to the Association.
